TODAY.com homepage

Objective:
The NBC News Digital team wanted to increase video clicks for all properties. The TODAY.com goal was to redesign the video elements on their homepage.


Process:

  • Collected user data from previous user studies
  • Worked with stakeholders to define business needs
  • Created and refined ideation sketches
  • Built working prototype for stakeholder review
  • Implemented approved design of cover and new video feature using HTML5 and CSS3
  • Collaborated closely with team on page performance and overall experience


Outcome:
The re-design of the cover, including a fully responsive site, and the design of the new video rail feature increased user interaction by 90% and increased video clicks by 15%.

Over the years the TODAY digital team has made significant improvements to the TODAY.com cover. Each re-design was influenced by a growing user knowledge of the brand, UX research when available and A/B tests run in Dynamic Yield.
